Graduate Certificate of Health Science (Medical Radiation Sciences)

The Graduate Certificate of Health Science (Medical Radiation Sciences) aims to advance the knowledge, skills, and attributes of medical radiation professionals in their field of specialisation, and to broaden their exposure to the wider field of health sciences. The graduate certificate is embedded within the Master of Health Science (Medical Radiation Science) and is the baseline entry level program for the Master of Health Science (Medical Radiation Sciences). Students who successfully complete the graduate certificate with a credit average are eligible to articulate to graduate diploma or master’s course with full credit for their study.

You will follow a prescribed course of study with a total 24 credit points (cp) incorporating three core units of study (18cp) and one elective unit (6cp).

How to apply

Applications for the Sydney Graduate Certificate of Health Science (Medical Radiation Science) are made through the Faculty of Health Science. On-time applications for the March Semester close on the last working day in November of the previous year. This course is not offered in the July semester intake.

Admission requirements

In order to qualify for admission, applicants must have one of the following:
* A bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
* Other evidence of general and professional qualifications
and/or experience, to satisfy the Faculty that the applicant
possesses the educational capacity to pursue graduate
studies, and satisfy such additional requirements for
admission to the program, if any, as may be prescribed by
the Faculty.

Students who entered the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Health Science (Medical Radiation Sciences) with an undergraduate diploma or less will be required to achieve at least a credit average to be able to articulate to the Master of Health Science (Medical Radiation Sciences). Acceptance into the MRS graduate program and articulation from any level of the program to any higher level is at the discretion of the academic advisor and program coordinator. The lower level award will be relinquished on achieving the higher award; however, full credit transfer will be given for the 4 units of study completed in the Graduate Certificate or the 6 units completed in the Graduate Diploma, leaving only a further four or two units of study respectively to be completed to achieve the Masters.

International students

How to apply

Overseas applicants may apply (i) directly to the Faculty of Health Sciences, or (ii) through a University overseas representative (education agent). Applications are to be made online. This course is not offered in the July semester intake.

This course does not meet the CRICOS requirements for obtaining an Australian student visa, however international students can complete the course by distance modules from their home country.

In addition to the fees indicated here for the course of study, International Students studying on an Australian Student Visa must have appropriate health insurance for the duration of their studies on a Student Visa through an approved provider of the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. This is a requirement of the Australian Government, unless otherwise exempted by the Government.
