About this course
Our Master of Medicine (Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Development) provides students with the knowledge and skills to make significant contributions to therapeutic product research, development, evaluation, regulation and monitoring for the health and wellbeing of the community.

Our Master of Medicine (Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Development) has been designed to ensure that the knowledge you gain can be applied to current industry needs and be readily integrated into your day-to-day work.
Graduates of our course will have the opportunity to move into careers in different areas of the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical and medical technology industry including:

Graduates may also move into government roles in the TGA or federal or state health departments, contract research or manufacturing organisations.
What you’ll study
As part of our Master of Medicine (Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Development), you will:
- Evaluate the role of the therapeutics industry in improving health outcomes
- Critically appraise scientific and clinical literature and data
- Understand the major milestones across the lifecycle of therapeutic products
- Evaluate and justify the optimal global strategy for registration of a new therapeutic product and construct relevant submission documentation
- Analyse the safety profile and develop risk minimisation strategies for therapeutic products
- Develop strategic documents from different perspectives including medical affairs, regulatory affairs, health economics and product vigilance
You will complete 48 credit points of units of study including:
- 12 credit points of compulsory units of study;
- 24 credit points of stream-specific units of study; and
- 12 credit points of stream specific or general elective units of study.
Students are strongly encouraged to complete stream-specific and compulsory units before completing elective units.
