Ancient History
UNDERGRADUATE MAJOR
A major in Ancient History offers students a wide range of units of study on the ancient Greek, Roman and early post-Roman and Byzantine civilisations. We look at the evidence for this world: literature; documents on stone, metal, clay, wood or papyrus; visual images; coins; and other material sources. We use various historical approaches to try to recover the past in a way that is meaningful to the present.

Study plan
To gain a major in Ancient History students must complete a minimum of 36 senior credit points of Ancient History.
Graduate opportunities

Further study for major
Eligible candidates may proceed to an Honours year in the Bachelor of Arts, or apply for admission to a rich postgraduate program in the humanities and social sciences, comprising advanced learning and professional courses. Master degrees include capstone projects ranging from internships with government and non-government organisations in Australia and overseas, the gallery and museum sector, and leading media organisations, to opportunities for independent research projects which prepare students for higher degrees by research.
