Indigenous Australian Studies and Aboriginal Studies
The Koori Centre fosters innovative educational activity in the fields of Aboriginal studies, Indigenous Australian studies and Indigenous languages education at the University of Sydney, and is committed to the enhancement of Indigenous Australian educational outcomes. The Koori Centre offers a Diploma, a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Indigenous Languages Education to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in block mode. Our undergraduate program in Indigenous Australian studies is open to students from any discipline and forms a major in the Bachelor of Arts program. Students complete a dynamic course of study in a range of electives. Unit content includes language revitalisation, Indigenous film and literature, Indigenous health and wellbeing and broader areas of Indigenous history, self-determination and social justice. The Centre also offers a number of units of study in Indigenous education to all students enrolled in Bachelor of Education primary and secondary courses.
