Graduate Certificate in Infection and Immunity
The information on this page applies to future students. Current students should refer to their faculty handbooks for course information.
The Graduate Certificate in Infection and Immunity is designed for those who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of infectious diseases, infection control and the functioning of the immune system. The course aims to produce graduates who can effectively participate in future health care or research programs in infection or immunity anywhere in the world.
The integrated scientific approach taken in this course will reflect the current state of knowledge regarding infectious microorganisms and their pathogenesis, immunology and the immune responses to infection, and the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases. The course covers the principles and practices advocated for the effective prevention or minimisation of infectious diseases in hospitals and laboratories, among the general community, and during disease outbreaks. It also provides you with training in state-of-the-art laboratory techniques used in the disciplines of infectious diseases and immunology.
The Graduate Certificate in Infection and Immunity is embedded within the Master of Medicine (Infection and Immunity) and Master of Science in Medicine (Infection and Immunity). The master's degrees build on concepts learned during the graduate diploma and graduate certificate and provide additional training in research methodology. You may choose to complete the graduate certificate or use it as a pathway into a master’s degree in the discipline, subject to meeting admission requirements.
The Graduate Certificate in Infection and Immunity consists of 24 credit points. Students will complete four core units of study to be awarded the graduate certificate.
