A candidate for the Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management will satisfactorily complete units of study granting 24 credit points by a combination of online distance units and two short (three to five days in length) residential sessions.

Graduate opportunities

Completing the Veterinary Public Health Management postgraduate courses at University of Sydney provides an excellent path for graduates to pursue animal health careers that contribute to disease control, surveillance, biosecurity and research. Admission requirements

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management will:
(a) hold a bachelor’s degree or higher award from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, in veterinary science or animal science;
(b) In exceptional circumstances the Dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
Previous study in an animal-health related field is required. Some basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel would be an advantage. It is assumed that you have biostatistics knowledge at an undergraduate level. A short online course is available if you need background biostatistics.

Domestic students

How to apply

Applications are made directly to the University and assessed by the Faculty. On-time applications for the March Semester close on 31 January. On-time applications for the July Semester close on 28 June. Late applications will be accepted, but priority is given to those who submit before the application deadline.

International students

How to apply

Overseas applicants can only study this course in their home country and may apply (i) directly to the University, or (ii) through a University overseas representative (education agent). This course is not available to international students studying in Australia with a student visa.

Postgraduate Domestic Tuition Fee

This 2013, tuition fee for a domestic postgraduate student represents the fee that is payable by you in the calendar year you commence your course, commencing in 2012 for a standard annual full time load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load is more or less than the 1.0 EFTSL your fee will differ.

Additional incidental fees

For some courses there are incidental fees additional to the student contribution and/or course fee. In addition to the fees indicated here for the course of study, International Students studying on an Australian Student Visa must have appropriate health insurance for the duration of their studies on a Student Visa through an approved provider of the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) scheme. This is a requirement of the Australian Government, unless otherwise exempted by the Government.
