Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management

The Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management will provide you with the perfect learning environment if you're a busy professional based in a regional or rural centre in Australia, or if you're located overseas. This flexible course is delivered largely through distance education units of study, using online classrooms, with three short residential intensive blocks (three to five days in length) during the course. You will enjoy a wide range of core and elective units of study which include studies in veterinary, widlife and aquatic wildlife epidemiology, food safety, zoonoses, disease control, animal health economics, policy development, leadership skills, project management and research. The Graduate Diploma is part of an embedded program in Veterinary Public Health Management. Subject to meeting progression requirements, you may apply to transfer to the Master of Veterinary Public Health Management.

A candidate for the Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management will satisfactorily complete units of study granting 36 credit points by a combination of online distance units and three short (three to five days in length) residential sessions.

How to apply
Applications are made directly to the University and assessed by the Faculty. On-time applications for the March Semester close on 30 November. On-time applications for the July Semester close on 30 May. Late applications will be accepted, but priority is given to those who submit before the application deadline.
Admission requirements
A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management will:
(a) hold a bachelor’s degree or higher award from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, in veterinary science or animal science; or
(b) have completed the requirements of an embedded graduate certificate in this discipline from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification.
Previous study in an animal-health related field is required. Some basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel would be an advantage. It is assumed that you have biostatistics knowledge at an undergraduate level. A short online course is available if you need background biostatistics.
International students
How to apply
Overseas applicants can only study this course in their home country and may apply (i) directly to the University, or (ii) through a University overseas representative (education agent). This course is not available to international students studying in Australia with a student visa.

This 2012 tuition fee for a domestic postgraduate student represents the fee that is payable by you in the calendar year you commence your course, commencing in 2012 for a standard annual full time load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load is more or less than the 1.0 EFSTL your fee will differ.
