The Graduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology combines a rigorous theoretical foundation with real-world practical applications, and integrates evidence-based coaching methodologies with the science of positive psychology.
This course will give you an understanding of the key theoretical constructs of positive psychology, teach you about the history and development of the discipline, and introduce core research methods used in positive psychology. Importantly, you will learn how to apply positive psychology principles in a wide range of settings including consulting, coaching, education and health-related settings.
The attendance pattern for this course is part-time only.

The course is normally completed over the course of two semesters on a part time basis only.
You will complete 24 credit points (cp) for the award, made up of two core units of study (12cp) and two elective units of study (12cp). You will normally complete two units per semester.

The Graduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology delivers a solid grounding in both the theory and practice of positive psychology. Graduates will be able to apply the science of positive psychology in a wide range of contexts including consulting, coaching, education and health-related settings or as organisational change agents.
Admission
Admission requirements
Admission to the Graduate Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology requires:
(a) a three-year Psychology degree or a three-year degree in a cognate discipline; and
(b) a minimum of two years relevant employment experience.
Relevant work experience may include counselling, experience in organisational learning and development, management experience, employment in applied psychology settings, professional coaching or other areas directly related to coaching.

Applications are made directly to the University and assessed by the Faculty of Science.
Entry into the program is competitive. You should have either a three-year psychology degree or a three-year degree in a cognate discipline with a major in areas such as (but not limited to) arts, humanities, business, science or law. At least two years relevant employment experience is required. To help the assessment process we request that you provide the names of up to three referees, and include a short essay of 300 to 500 words outlining your prior experience, your interests in the program and your overall goals on graduation.

Postgraduate Domestic Tuition Fee
This 2013, tuition fee for a domestic postgraduate student represents the fee that is payable by you in the calendar year you commence your course, commencing in 2012 for a standard annual full time load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load is more or less than the 1.0 EFTSL your fee will differ.

Additional incidental fees
