Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Health Research

Qualitative researchers observe people as they go about their usual activities, interview them, conduct focus groups, and examine related documents and images. They analyse the resulting data to gain a better understanding of the issues impacting on peoples' health. The Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Health Research requires completion of 24 credit points through 4 core units of study: Introduction to Qualitative Health Research; Qualitative Research Methodologies; Qualitative Research Analysis & Writing; Designing a Qualitative Research Project. Completion of this Graduate Certificate program can be used as credit towards a Graduate Diploma or Masters degree.

Study plan
The Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Health Research consists of 24 credit points, including four core units of study: Advanced Qualitative Health Research; Qualitative Research Methodologies; Qualitative Research Analysis & Writing; Designing a Qualitative Research Project. The core units include a capstone in which students will be mentored to develop a sound proposal for a future research project. You will develop a big-picture view of qualitative inquiry, become familiar with qualitative methodologies and study designs, develop skills in qualitative analysis, and develop an understanding of the nature and value of qualitative knowledge.
Graduate opportunities
Graduates of this course are able to work as academic researchers, contract researchers, market researchers, or research officers in government or non-government organisations.
Admission
Admission requirements
A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Qualitative Health Research will hold a degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification. In exceptional circumstances the dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the School, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.

Postgraduate Domestic Tuition Fee
This 2013, tuition fee for a domestic postgraduate student represents the fee that is payable by you in the calendar year you commence your course, commencing in 2012 for a standard annual full time load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load is more or less than the 1.0 EFTSL your fee will differ.

Additional incidental fees
