Sustainable Design

Level: Postgraduate coursework

Sustainable design seeks to create spaces where materials, energy and water are used efficiently and where the impact on the natural environment is minimised. As the world shifts to a more sustainable form of development the task facing designers is uniquely challenging and different from previous eras.

The Sustainable Design program will meet this challenge by providing design professionals and allied practitioners with the necessary skills and knowledge to design energy-efficient and environmentally-conscious buildings. It addresses the relationship between architecture and current environmental issues, and it explores environmentally-sustainable architecture. Areas of study available in the program include sustaining the built environment, the principles and practice of sustainable design and how this area may relate to climate and comfort.
