Fundamentals in 2D Animation

This elective is designed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts that underlay animation production. Through a series of hands on exercises students will explore the processes and concepts required to successfully produce an simple limited animation video.The hands on exercises will allow the students to gain a historical context of animation and highlight the skills required to produce an animated video. Thematic approaches will be supported by technical introductions to encourage exploration with Animation techniques. The elective provides for the development and enhancement of production skills through group and individual tutorials and critiques and the acquisition of technical skills appropriate to the assigned projects. The subject will explore frame-by-frame animation, stop motion animation and limited animation techniques giving students a base to develop more complex animation productions.
