The focus for this unit is the Number and Algebra and Working Mathematically strands of the NSW Mathematics Syllabus and Australian Curriculum with particular emphasis on the first three years of school. It will explore how children's mathematical thinking strategies develop via a research-based framework of number and will introduce the important connection between assessment and planning for instruction.
