Early Childhood Settings & Communities

This unit of study helps students become familiar with the early childhood landscape in Australia and the range of early childhood services and settings available for children from birth to five years and their families. Students begin to develop familiarity with the regulatory frameworks around early childhood services and their responsibilities in relation to these. Students will also examine the literature relating to early childhood education policy issues and quality care and education in early childhood services. As part of this unit students visit 8 early learning settings with a community learning focus.
