Teaching Internship

EDMT6018

As a final component of Professional Experience, the Internship is a bridge between the ending of pre-service professional preparation and the first year of teaching. Under the guidance of the Mentor Teacher. Interns will gain knowledge and experience of all facets of the role of the teacher in the school and prepare themselves as thoroughly as possible for their first year of teaching. They will be assisted to consolidate knowledge and skills with respect to the appropriate Graduate Professional Teaching Standards through taking independent teaching responsibility for the equivalent of a 0.5-0.6 teaching load. During the Internship pre-service teachers are expected to demonstrate consolidation of the Outcomes achieved within the previous fully supervised Professional Experience units.
