Teaching Aboriginal Studies 1 (EDSE3080)

UNIT OF STUDY

This unit of study aims to prepare graduates for teaching Stages 4 & 5 Aboriginal Studies in NSW secondary schools. Through the development of units of work, assessment tasks, resources and field studies, students will develop teaching and learning strategies to explore local Aboriginal community knowledge that reflects the diversity, vibrancy and resilience of Aboriginal peoples and cultures in todays society. This will support graduates in becoming multi-skilled, adaptable and pro-active critical thinkers and educators of the future.

Assessment

2000wd unit of work (40%) and assessment design task (30%) and field studies with presentation (30%)

Prerequisites and assumed knowledge

96 credit points including 36 credit points of Education including EDSE2001 and HSTY1089 and one of (ANTH1001, SCLG1001, GCST1601) and KOCR2600 and one additional unit of Indigenous Studies (including cross-listed units)
