Teaching in Multilingual Classrooms

One in six students in NSW is developing English as an additional language and 25% of students come from bilingual/bicultural backgrounds. This unit explores ways to engage and scaffold students learning to achieve challenging outcomes. Participants will develop understandings of the social and political contexts of TESOL, second/additional language and literacy development and strategies for developing spoken and written competency in everyday and academic English.
