People,Information and Knowledge
INFS2010
In today's society, business and other organisations cannot successfully operate and compete without systematic and deliberate approaches to information and knowledge management. This unit focuses on the fundamental concepts relevant to the management of information, content, and knowledge in organisations. In this unit you will develop an understanding of the theoretical underpinnings that link people, information, and knowledge. You will be introduced to the concepts, tools and systems that enable the acquisition, storage, access, and distribution of business information and knowledge. This unit helps you understand the processes of generating, communicating, and using knowledge, and the way these can be integrated with the organisational strategy and business processes. You will gain an understanding of the value of knowledge in organisations by analysing and evaluating information and knowledge environments via case studies of various types of organisations. You will also gain hands-on experience with tools for information design and knowledge management systems, such as collaboration tools or enterprise content management systems.
