Professional Practice 2 (OCCP2086)

UNIT OF STUDY

Professional practice involves clinical reasoning, problem solving, and collaborative teamwork. This unit continues the focus on professional development in preparation for practice across all areas. During the semester students will consolidate skills required for evaluating and supporting their clinical reasoning, develop an understanding of how types of reasoning inform the process of occupational therapy, and build on their collaborative teamwork and professional communication skills. Students participate in 40 hours of on-campus SIMulated fieldwork. In the semester breaks, students complete an additional 40 hours (1 week), full-time fieldwork placement within a professional service setting.

Classes

1x2hr tutorial/week, 1x80hr practical and self-directed learning

Assessment

Individual assessment (40%), examination (60%) and Fieldwork Evaluation Form (FEF) (P/F ). Students muct pass their fieldwork placement in order to gain a pass for this unit.

Additional Information

Students must complete jurisdictional and statutory obligations prior to all professional fieldwork placements. These include: holding up to date required vaccinations, Criminal Records Check, Working with Children Check and an Australian cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
