This unit of study consists of three streams: (1) Social Pharmacy, which is designed to provide a broad perspective of health and illness, and encourage a view of the patient as a whole person. Topics include chronic illness, self-management, pain, and communications. The emphasis will be on the psychosocial processes that underpin patient health behaviours. (2) Teamwork, which introduces students to the concept of teamwork and its relevance to the health care setting. Students will play an active role in team based activities incorporating the analysis of team processes. (3) Academic Writing Skills, which provides instruction and support for developing skills for academic writing and critiquing.
