Introductory Qualitative Methods (PUBH5031)

UNIT OF STUDY

This unit aims to give a basic introduction to qualitative research and how it differs from quantitative research. It presents 3 data collection techniques (interviews, focus groups, observation) used in qualitative research and demonstrates their relevance to public health issues. It introduces basic qualitative analysis and critical appraisal of qualitative research articles. Learning is largely self- directed with some online discussion.
