Self help
CAPS offer you a range of online self-help tools. They vary in their 'intensity' (i.e. the amount of time and effort required from you) and range from brief self-help guides to comprehensive online treatment programs.
- 'Learn To' e-Books are designed to be brief and practical. They provide key information and proven strategies for managing common problems faced by students: The e-books are grouped in three sections "Study Issues", "Lifestyle Issues" and "Well-being Concerns".
- The "Book Prescription Scheme" is run in partnership with the University of Sydney Library. CAPS counsellors can prescribe you books from a list of high quality self-help manuals that are particularly helpful for difficulties with low mood, depression, anxiety and worry. CAPS counsellors can also arrange brief follow-up contacts with you to review how you are finding the material in the book. If you prefer, you can also try out any of these books on your own.
- e-Therapy offers a suite of more intensive, self-guided therapeutic programs. These programs take more time and effort, but will teach you a broader set of skills in-depth, across a number of course modules. Explore these resources if you want a more intensive online self-help.
Please note: These self-help materials are not designed to replace individual counselling appointments for those who prefer or require them. If you would like to see a counsellor please make an appointment
