Mental Fitness with Mindfulness Presentation held in conjunction with the Thrive Festival Mental fitness is crucial in allowing us to stay focused in our work and achieve fulfilment in all aspects of our lives. This presentation introduces the basics of mindfulness meditation and examines the scientific findings relating to this practice. It will also include some experiential exercises so that you will walk away with basic mindfulness strategies you can start implementing in your daily life. That's right, it's your friendly neighbourhood brain! This skillshop will present you with some of the more recent findings about the brain and discuss techniques to improve your brain's functioning whilst hardly working up a sweat. Acceptance and Mindfulness Training This 6-week course will focus on the development of self-awareness and effective coping skills for managing stress, anxiety and/or depression. The course will allow participants to develop and consolidate these skills through discussions of topics relating to the application of mindfulness and guided experiential practices. Each week will be an extension of the previous session so please register for the course only if you are able to attend all 6 sessions. Presenter: Kate Hetherington |
