Plan your studies
Before you enrol you will need to know which units of study (subjects) to select.
If you are enrolling in July, you only need to choose units for Semester 2, your first semester.
After you are enrolled, you can add and remove units online through Sydney Student (go to ‘My studies’, ‘Units of study’, and then ‘Amend your units of study selection’).
You need to submit all changes to your units of study before the relevant deadlines to avoid academic and/or financial penalties.
How do I know which units to enrol in?
Handbooks explain the rules and unit of study (subject) requirements you need to complete your course. They explain which subjects are mandatory, which ones may have prerequisites, and which ones are optional.
2015 handbooks will be available soon. In the meantime, you can view the 2015 units of study available to you, through the units of study selection screen in your Sydney Student portal. If you have any questions or require assistance with your units of study selection you can contact our enrolment helpline on 1800 SYD UNI (1800 793 864) or +61 2 8627 1444 (if outside Australia).
Faculty websites and online course planners
Your faculty or school may provide course information specific to you. They can also help to explain the guidelines in your faculty handbook and provide sample plans for the subjects you will take over the course of your studies.
Academic advice sessions
Your faculty may run face-to-face talks with academic and course advisers. These will help you learn how your course works, which units are right for you, and give you the chance to ask questions.
