How to enrol
Enrolment is the process by which you secure your place in a course and choose your subjects for the coming semester or year. Once you've enrolled, you are officially a student of the University of Sydney.
if you are a continuing student, you need to re-enrol so you can select your subjects for the year.

Enrolment will open from:
Monday 1 December 2014
- New coursework students going into Semester 1 and those who took a break / suspension in 2014
- Continuing Higher Degree by Research candidates
- Commencing (new) Higher Degree by Research candidates in research period 1
Monday 15 December 2014
- Continuing coursework students (students who attended classes in 2014)
Monday 2 February 2015
- Commencing Higher Degree by Research candidates in research period 2
If your course suspension is scheduled to finish at the end of this year, you will be emailed from 3 November with instructions on what to do next.
Returning to your course
To let us know that you plan to return to your studies next semester (coursework students) or research period (Higher Degree by Research) you need to log in to Sydney Student and submit a request by Friday 23 November 2014. To do this, go to ‘My Studies’ > ‘Request to recommence studies’.
Once we have received your request, we will contact you when enrolment opens with advice on how to re-enrol.
Further time away
If you do not intend to return to your studies in the coming semester, you may be able to request a further period of suspension through Sydney Student, go to ‘My Studies’ > ‘Suspend your studies’
Once you have accepted your firm offer, and enrolment is open for your course you will receive an email with your UniKey (login details) and instructions on how to complete the enrolment task online.
All commencing students are encouraged to enrol as early as possible to secure a place in their course. Places in courses are limited.
UAC applicants must accept their offer and enrol within a week of receiving an offer.
Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students who may enrol until the start date of your candidature (please refer to your offer letter). Read about recent changes for higher degree by research students.
Enrolment will open for 2015 after results have been released. This means that when you come to enrol, you'll automatically only see units of study for which you've completed the required pre-requisites. Your study choices can then be confirmed immediately, so you don't have to wait for a notification later.
Summer School students should refer to the Summer School website for more information on enroloment.
From 2014 your student card will be valid for the duration of your enrolment at the University of Sydney. You will no longer be issued a new card each year. This means you need take care of your card and retain it while you are enrolled.
You can continue to use it to borrow items from the library and access buildings approved by your faculty.
Your 2014 travel concession will remain valid till 31 March 2015.

After you are enrolled, you can add and remove units online through Sydney Student (go to ‘My studies’, ‘Units of study’, and then ‘Amend your units of study selection’).
