E-12 students

Congratulations on joining our community.

As you might know, the E12 scheme doesn't just help you get into uni with an early conditional offer and specific ATAR cut-offs, but it also provides:

• a $5000 scholarship for your first year of study
• an Apple iPad to help you in your studies
• a University of Sydney Union Access Card, which gives you discounts on and off campus, and access to over 200 clubs and societies
• support through the transition from school to university, including a guided enrolment process, orientation, mentoring and additional assistance

The information below explains the orientation activities and student support specifically designed for you as an E12 student, produced with support from the Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program.

Getting off to a good start is an important step in your transition to uni. In order to get the best start possible, we encourage you to:

Events for E12 students

We encourage you to attend these events and any others you might find useful during Orientation Week - see below for details.

Your E12 Student Welcome and Orientation

Monday 18 February, 10am–5pm
At your E12 student orientation you will be welcomed by Student Support Services staff, receive vital information and tips for studying at Sydney, learn why money matters, and hear from some current students.

Lunch will be provided and after a session organised by CAPS, you have the opportunity participate in activities organised by your Faculty, or take a campus tour.

You will have received a personalised invitation in February to this event, and RSVP is by Wednesday 13 February. If you are an E12 student and have not received an invite, please .

Bridging Courses

Tuesday 19 – Friday 22 February
If you receive an ATAR of 80 or less, we would encourage you to attend the Learning Centre Bridging Course. This course will kick-start your academic journey at the University and help you to refine your academic skills. Find out more here.

Orientation Week 2013

Please come and join us for Orientation Week!
There are a number of sessions that may appeal to you - money matters, well-balanced lifestyle, what is this thing called university?, finding casual employment. Find out more here.

If, during Orientation or in the first few weeks of class, you have any questions, or are lost, keep an eye out for people wearing an ‘Ask Me’ badge. They are here to answer any questions you may have about Orientation Week, the campus, or uni life in general. Find out more about the Ask Me campaign here.

Make the most of the USU Access Card included in your E12 package – check out all the clubs and societies along Eastern Avenue and the front lawns in Orientation Week, and join any that interest you. Find out more about the benefits of an Access Card.

Based on your answers, you will be referred to the best support services and opportunities to suit your needs. Its a good idea to start exploring these services – you might want to drop in during Orientation Week to familarise yourself with what they can offer, or perhaps attend one of the transition sessions.
