O-Week 2012: The Circus

Wednesday 29 February – Friday 2 March

Come one, come all! The University of Sydney Union (USU) invites you to the biggest orientation festival in Australia. On 29 February, O-Week 2012 kicks off with the most high-flying, boredom-defying introduction to campus life you’ll experience during your degree at the University of Sydney.

The USU's non-stop social scene will have you juggling classes, free time and fun like a pro before you know it. Whether you’re ready to cannonball yourself into the enormous world of Clubs and Societies or simply chill out at Manning or Hermann’s Bar on a lazy afternoon, O-Week 2012 gives you your first tantalising taste of everything the USU has to offer.

Find some of the best student talent on display at our Big Top each day, and make sure you grab tickets to the exciting night events. Our ‘Uncaged’ opening night will launch the party before we send in the clowns for comedy night on Thursday. Then fill your ears with blissful music from some of Australia’s best bands on Friday. You won't want to miss a single moment of O-Week 2012!

Clubs and societies

When you step into O-Week 2012, you’ll walk straight into a parade of intrigues, interests and ideas that are represented by over 200 clubs and societies lined up on display.

From food to faith, performance to politics, culture to chocolate – it's the perfect time to throw yourself into the best social experience on offer at the University of Sydney, and make some great new friends along the way!

The USU is here to give students amazing opportunities to learn, laugh and grow. As Australia’s largest independent student union, the USU exists to fill all the bits in between classes and exams with colour and fun – to make your time at the University of Sydney as rewarding as possible.

Starting with the Clubs & Societies program, and extending well beyond it, the USU is with you every step of the way during your time at uni. Exclusive competitions, scholarships, grants and leadership positions are available through your USU, as well as instant access to the big events on campus throughout the year.

Whether you’re sharing ideas at Interfaith Week or experiencing the richness of campus art and culture at Verge Festival, the USU provides you with the ultimate student experience all year long.
