Support Services
After Orientation there are a number of ways to become involved in university life. Below are some suggestions and be sure to check out the first year survival tips as well.
Careers Centre
At the Careers Centre, postgraduate students can take part in ‘resume rescue’ workshops, one-to-one consultations and faculty-specific workshops that run throughout the year.

They also provide a Resource Centre which is open to all students, and experienced careers consultants can offer advice on how to market your postgraduate degree, employment opportunities, career options and other career development areas.

Counselling & Psychological Services (CAPS)
Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) runs a workshop specifically for postgraduate research students in semester one of 2013. Have a look at the CAPS website in February for full details of this and other helpful workshops.

Financial Support
There are several options for financial support during your time at the University. For postgraduate research scholarships click here and for coursework scholarships click here.
The Financial Assistance Service can assist you in covering the costs for essential living and study expenses including textbooks, equipment, and overseas conference travel in some instances. For more information, see the website.
Learning Centre
The Learning Centre offers workshops throughout the semester and has a range of programs targeted to postgraduate students available during the summer holidays. See the 2013 Summer Program and the website for more information.
They also provide online resources to help yourself , including writing a thesis and writing up research targeted for postgraduates.
Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association (SUPRA)
SUPRA is the postgraduate student representative association that provides advice, advocacy and support for all postgraduate students at the University of Sydney.
They have a range of ways for you to get involved in university life and provide various publications to help familiarise you with the university.
