Student Support Services

After Orientation there are a number of ways to become involved in university life. Below are some suggestions and be sure to check out the first year survival tips as well.

Accomodation Services

Whether you live on or off campus or are here for the summer, you will find yourself living in one of Sydney's suburbs. You may apply to live in one of the University's on-campus accommodation or be looking for assistance in your off-campus accommodation search. We can help simplify finding a place to live.

Use the accommodation database to find off-campus housing. People who are looking for tenants can also use this database to advertise.

Find out more information here.

Careers Centre

At the Careers Centre, postgraduate students can take part in ‘resume rescue’ workshops, one-to-one consultations and faculty-specific workshops that run throughout the year.

  • careers in academia
  • interview techniques
  • networking
  • presenting your research – how to capture your audience
  • resume writing
  • writing cover letters

All students are strongly encouraged to sign up on CareerHub, where you can receive job alerts and access a database of current openings for jobs locally and overseas.

They also provide a Resource Centre which is open to all students, and experienced careers consultants can offer advice on how to market your postgraduate degree, employment opportunities, career options and other career development areas.

Check the website for further information.

Counselling & Psychological Services (CAPS)

Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) runs a workshop specifically for postgraduate research students in Semester 1. Have a look at the CAPS website in February for full details of this and other helpful workshops.
