You need to adapt to a new environment, incorporate new knowledge, and balance life, work and study. You also need to take care of the practical aspects of life, such as housing and finance, so you feel settled and able to study at an optimal level!

Broadway Scheme Welcome

Please arrive by 12.50pm to collect name tag and be seated by 1pm.

Students entering under the Broadway Scheme will receive an invitation to this event via email in February.

This event will help you to make a successful transition to university study. Current students and staff will talk about key services and useful resources on campus. Come along and meet other new students before semester begins. Please note: Broadway scheme students who are from outside Sydney might prefer to attend the Country and Interstate Welcome (see below).

Country and interstate students: Finding your feet in Sydney!

This welcome and social event will help you make the transition to university and to life in a new city. Find out about student resources and services, meet other students new to Sydney, with lunch provided. Afterwards, join in the Sydney Day trips arranged by the University of Sydney Union.

Assistive Technology

If you are registered with Disability Services you may be eligible to use the Assistive Technology facilities available at several locations around the University. These sessions will introduce you to the range of Assistive Technology currently offered and explain how this technology can help you access course content and progress in your studies. The Assistive Technology team will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Navigating MyUni

This session introduces you to MyUni, and shows you how to manage all areas of your student administration and email account.

Koori Centre: Open Days

Wednesday 29 February – Friday 2 March
Room U223, Old Teachers College, Camperdown Campus.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are welcome to drop into the Koori Centre at any time during the day. Students will get to know what support services are available through the centre, including a computer lab, library, kitchen and common room.

You can also be provisded with resources about scholarships and a range of other services to help you through your studies. Koori Centre staff are available to discuss any concerns you have and help you find your way around the University.

Parents Optimising Potential

Help your parents to understand how university works and how they can best assist you to adjust to university life. Invite them to come to this orientation seminar that has been specially designed for them!
The seminar will provide your parents with some good tips about how they can help optimise your potential as a student as well as facts the about how the university manages changing, withdrawing (and even failing) courses.
The POP seminar will be helpful for parents who don’t know (or remember) what university learning and life is all about and who want to know how to best help you succeed at university.
