Overview

Presented in assocation with Morita the 2013 Endodontic Extravaganza will bring some of Australia's most trusted and respected specialist Endodontists together to discuss the latest trends, procedures and developments in the ever changing world of endodontics. This one day program will be both practical and topical. It will aim to provide the general practitioner with everyday solutions and treatment options. If you would like to attend a single day course in which endodontics is comprehensively covered by experts in their field, don't miss this program!

Topics

  • The what, how, why and when of apex locators as it relates to endodontic success!
  • Obturation-GP, heat and MTA
  • Improving clinical outcomes through sound risk management - some keys to successful and enjoyable endodontics
  • Endodontic diagnosis & treatment in 3D
  • Predictability in endodontic preparation – it’s what we all want
  • Question & answer session
  • Practical demonstrations and workshops
The what, how, why and when of apex locators as it relates to endodontic success! - Dr Matt Filei

The aim is to give the clinician clear steps in how to improve accuracy of Working Length Calculation. The influence of the Length of Root-filling as it relates to success will be discussed. Electronic apex locators such as Dentaport ZX improve endodontic outcomes by improving accuracy of working length determination. Many of the clinical challenges facing the practitioner doing endodontics can be met once accurate canal length is determined.

Obturation-GP, heat and MTA - Dr Jeff Ward

The aim is to give the clinician clear steps in how to improve accuracy of Working Length Calculation. The influence of the Length of Root-filling as it relates to success will be discussed. Electronic apex locators such as Dentaport ZX improve endodontic outcomes by improving accuracy of working length determination. Many of the clinical challenges facing the practitioner doing endodontics can be met once accurate canal length is determined.

Improving clinical outcomes through sound risk management - some keys to successful and enjoyable endodontics - Dr John McNamara

The presentation will address some recent statistics on litigation here and overseas, and how good clinical and practice management protocols, and ethical decision making will make for a more enjoyable and successful practice of endodontics.

Endodontic diagnosis & treatment in 3D - Dr David Figdor

Over the last 2 decades, there have been a few technological advances that have really enhanced endodontic diagnosis and treatment. The operating microscope provides superior magnification and illumination, which improves treatment ability by enhancing direct vision. With the advent of high resolution Cone Beam CT, there is now the possibility to dramatically aid radiographic visualisation, providing accurate discrimination of anatomical structures in 3 dimensions for detailed pre-operative diagnosis and treatment planning. This technology has many applications, e.g. assessment of undisclosed periapical pathology, root canal anatomy, resorption, root fractures etc. and these will be illustrated using clinical case-based examples.

Predictability in endodontic preparation – it’s what we all want - Dr Ian Trantor

Whether a first time user or experienced clinician our aim should be an ‘Expert at the Basics’. Understand rotary NiTi techniques; Be aware of the limits of materials; Stay in control; Refine technique to individual cases – How big apically? How much taper?; Be aware of advances ; The aim of this presentation is to refresh and update.
