Continuing Education in Dentistry produces a range of multimedia products. These include DVD recordings of lectures and other multimedia productions. In 2009 more products will become available.

Orofacial Pain

In this six volume DVD set Professor Greg Murray and Associate Professor Chris Peck cover the concepts of pain, its clinical consequences and the psychological and social components of the pain experience. Diseases that manifest as orofacial pain and orofacial pain conditions that can mimic pain are also covered along with how to obtain a comprehensive pain history.

In addition the neurophysiology involved in orofacial pain is discussed with an introduction lecture covering definitions, the epidemiology of pain and the basic nervous system pathway. The role of peripheral and central sensitisation processes are then explained together with information on referred pain, pain spread and poor pain localisation, the Gate Control Theory, pain modulation, and the modes of action of some commonly used management strategies.
