Orthodontics III: course overview

This course is designed for participants who have completed Orthodontics II. This extends registrants experience within the Orthodontics department for a further 12 months. Participants attend a half-day each month and are encouraged to join the morning lecture sessions scheduled for Orthodontics II. The course presents an opportunity for participants to complete the active treatment of patients from Orthodontics II, and to review the appropriate retention programs.

Orthodontics III: course outline

  • To complete the active treatment of patients from Orthodontics III and review the appropriate retention programs.
  • Seminars on patient diagnosis and management.

Orthodontics III: learning objectives

  • Obtain clinical skills to perform a different skill level of orthodontic adjustment and orthodontic finishing skills.
  • Review the retention programs and see the effectiveness of different retention modalities.

Orthodontics III: learning outcomes

  • Be able to perform continuous orthodontic care for patients from diagnosis and treatment to retention.
  • Obtain confidence in performing treatment in mild to moderate cases of orthodontic problems.

1:30 - 4:30pm - includes lunch.

Registrants are encouraged to attend the morning sessions of Orthodontics II each day (from 9:00am)

Attendance at all clinical sessions is required for successful completion of the Orthodontics III course.


Completion of Orthodontics I & II courses.

To be eligible for enrolment in Orthodontics III the candidate must satisfy the entrance criteria.

Mandatory requirements:

In order to comply with NSW Department of Health Policy directives to be able to treat patients within a public hospital, there is a mandatory requirement to supply your current valid Dental Board of Australia certificate of registration; 100 point ID check and National Police Certificate (online application form).

Vaccination information:

Registrants will have to supply a NSW Health Vaccination Record Card (completed by the registrants’ GP); NSW Health Form 1 (new recruit undertaking/declaration; and NSW Health Form 2 – TB Assessment Tool
