Extended Fixed Prosthodontics 1

Monday 18 to Friday 22 June 2018

Extended Fixed Prosthodontics was first developed more than 30 years ago and is recognised as the most comprehensive short course in Australia in fixed prosthodontics. This five-day course with more than 20 hours of supervised clinical simulation practice is convened by Dr Agnes Lai, who is joined by 16 presenters and clinical supervisors including dental specialists, leading university educators, a dual-qualified solicitor and dental ceramist.

The curriculum for 2018 retains the core of fixed prosthodontics topics in lectures and panel discussions. In addition to insights into various interfaces with technical laboratories, removable prosthodontics, along with the presentations covering the4 interaction between fixed prosthodontics and other disciplines (endodontics, periodontics and orthodontics) Implant fixed prosthodontic cases and concepts are also interlaced within all relevant lectures.

Extended Fixed Prosthodontics 1 provides more than 20 hours of supervised clinical simulation practice, featuring both traditional and innovative techniques. EFP participants receive a complimentary model of various tooth preparations completed by the supervising prosthodontists, in addition to specially selected burs used by the presenting prosthodontists in their everyday practice.

The innovation for 2018 is the hybrid ‘Presenting Condition’ model which is generated via the collective input of all participating dentists prior to the beginning of the course, and is produced by our technical support. This unique model, reflecting the fixed prosthodontic curiosities of all 2018 EFP participants, forms the central clinical sample for discussion throughout the entire course week.

Fixed prosthodontics is an essential component of private general practice and EFP 2018 offers the perfect balance of comprehensive lecture material, panel discussions and related supervised clinical simulation practice.
