Why support the Faculty of Dentistry

support the faculty

Your support can help deliver better population health outcomes by focusing on improving the oral health of the community in which we live.

Our vision is to establish a dental clinic and research centre at the University of Sydney, integrating research, clinical treatment and education.

Achieving this vision would be transformational for our teaching and research in dentistry. The proposed centre will have up to 24 dental chairs; a digital laboratory; clinical research office and seminar rooms. It will introduce state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and will enable research to be fully integrated with clinical treatment. Such a facility will attract internationally-distinguished researchers and teachers and will support the teaching of specialty courses. To realise this vision would require a substantial donation, and we would welcome conversation about giving for this purpose.

As the health landscape shifts, we need to respond accordingly if we are to continue to lead. If we are to gain a better understanding of disease, patient need and new technologies, we need investment. To satisfy the perpetual need to foster the enquiring minds of students at all levels of their career, we have to continue to provide the best teaching. A gift, no matter its size, can make a difference to the work we do. Your gift can:

Support our research

Our award-winning researchers are already making discoveries that change practice and improve patient treatment. By looking into the mouth, we now understand how cancer cells spread and are investigating the use of jaw muscle cells in repairing hearts. To keep doing this work, we need to continue to invest in oral research where it impacts population health, appoint more senior research academics, and increase post-doctoral fellowships.

Support our students with scholarships

Help us enable the best and brightest students to access dental education - whatever their social or cultural background. We aim to provide more scholarships and have funds available to assist those experiencing financial difficulties.

Support the purchase of equipment

We want our students to have access to a range of equipment used in clinical practice as well as benefit from state-of-the-art teaching facilities. For example, we are establishing a clinical simulation centre, which will house virtual simulation units used to enhance the learning experience across all levels of education.
