Biographical details

Cathryn is a Registered Dental Therapist who initially worked as a clinician in various public dental clinics in Sydney before commencing a teaching appointment in higher education. Since 2005 Cathryn has been involved within the Sydney Dental School, developing and delivering Oral Health in Society curricula within the Bachelor of Oral Health program. This has included the coordination of student community research projects in both metropolitan and rural locations. In 2010 Cathryn completed a Master of Education in higher education and qualitative research methodology. During 2015 Cathryn was appointed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Lead for Sydney Dental School, to support the implementation of the Indigenous Strategy for the University of Sydney. Specific research interests include developing Indigenous dental curricula, Indigenous student recruitment and retention, oral health promotion, cultural competence and community engagement.
