Biographical details

Dr Kimberly Coulton is a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Bachelor of Oral Health program in the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Sydney in Australia. Kimberly completed her Dental Hygiene degree in1986 and has over 25 years’ experience as a clinical dental hygienist in the United States and overseas. Having lived and worked in Switzerland for 13 years, Kimberly returned to the United States to study at the University of Washington. In Washington, she earned her Master of Science degree in Oral Biology, investigating salivary S. mutans and caries experience in children. Following her post-graduate studies, Kimberly accepted a position as an Assistant Professor, teaching in the Department of Dental Hygiene at Armstrong Atlantic State University in Georgia, USA. In 2011, Kimberly completed a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Georgia Southern University and moved with her family to Australia. Currently, in her role as Head of the BOH program, she is responsible for curriculum development and oversight, student admissions, and the administration of the course. Her research is focused on enhancing the educational experience of dental students and addressing the policies and issues that challenge leaders in higher education.
