"The University of Sydney has a standing reputation as one of the oldest and best dental schools in Australia, but furthermore, the greater opportunity for hands on practical experience beginning early in the course was a primary determinant in me choosing to study at the University. I enjoy working with my hands, so having the opportunity to begin cutting dental preparations at such an early stage of my dental education career is a delight. This is something I can really see myself enjoying doing for the rest of my career. Having had the opportunity to interact with practicing dentists who come and give us lectures, I have realised the importance of simply being there for your patients, and trying to provide them the best care you can."

"Being a dentist you are problem solving on a daily basis with patients whose cases can be complex and varied. It’s a hands-on career in which you get to be both a physician and a surgeon. The Doctor of Dental Medicine aims to give students as much time in the clinics as possible, which allows students to develop clinical skills. The teachers are all dentists and having that support and mentorship when things are tricky is invaluable. Dentistry offers many career opportunities – from working as a clinician, teaching at a university, undertaking research, owning your own business, working in a dental hospital, working in public health policy - the list goes on."
