Multicultural Learning and Teaching (EDUF3035)

A broad understanding of the multicultural history and sociology of Australian youth as well as the changing experiences of young people are important foundations for today’s educators.

This unit will focus on the Australian experience set within the context of multicultural, social change. The students will be introduced to historical and contemporary aspects of Australian society from the perspective of identity formation.

In particular participating students will gain an understanding of the historical, cultural and sociological construction of youth in Australia today, including recognition of the various components that are uniquely Australian. This knowledge and understanding will be contextualised in learning and teaching.
