About the University of Sydney Network for Childhood and Youth Research
Welcome to the University of Sydney Network for Childhood and Youth Research (USNCYR).
Aims and objectives
Coordinated though the Sydney School of Education and Social Work, the USNCYR comprises researchers, practitioners and policy-makers interested in issues relating to young people.
We are drawn together by a conviction that a just society is one that includes all young people, encourages and values their participation and aims to ensure their well being and welfare.
Through critical perspectives and methodologies we aim to understand social processes relevant to young people and historical and contemporary constructions of childhood and youth. A key element informing our critical orientation towards research is respect for the voices and perspectives of young people.
The network plans events in response to suggestions from its membership. Planned future events include seminars, workshops, fora and collaborative research.
