Thesis title: Decision-making by Parents of Deaf Children in New South Wales: 1970 to present day

Supervisors: Ilektra SPANDAGOU , Helen PROCTOR

Thesis abstract:

This oral history project has conducted interviews with parents of deaf children in New South Wales from the 1970s to the present day to explore how different influences have been brought to bear on these parents in relation to their child's education. For these parents, decisions are often made early in a child's life that determine their schooling pathway and the changing nature of technology, conceptions of disability and service provision by the state have served to influence how these decisions are made.
