Thesis title: "Investigating the effectiveness of early intervention using AAC on the communication skills of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the classroom setting".

Supervisors: David EVANS , Cathy LITTLE

Thesis abstract:

The aim of the research is to investigate the effectiveness of early intervention using a Voice Output Communication Aid on the communication skills of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Students with ASD typically experience deficits in expressive and receptive communication skills and show a preference towards visual-based communication aids. This study seeks to determine how students with no verbal communication use an iPad in morning circle routine to make requests and respond to questions. The study also aims to determine the most effective intervention method for special educators to use within the classroom setting to enhance student communication.
