Biographical details

With a professional background in general nursing, midwifery, and maternal and child health prior to returning to tertiary study to gain her Bachelor of Social Work degree, Pam brings a broad knowledge base and wide-ranging experiences to her role in the Sydney School of Education and Social Work. Her areas of interest include the intersection of health and disability, as well as issues facing families in diverse contexts.

Pam's social work roles have included: working in the Victorian government public service in policy and agency liaison; managing a multidisciplinary team in a program for people under 25 years of age who were pregnant or parenting; and establishing a new social work position, known as Family Advocate, in a small, grass-roots genetic support group.

Pam's PhD thesis, submitted for examination in late 2017, is entitled "Parent carers' perspectives on their relationships with complex service systems"
