Annual Progress Review interviews

All postgraduate research students enrolled in the faculty's Office of Doctoral Studies are required to have their progress reviewed annually as a condition of candidature, and as required by the University. This is called the Annual Progress Review (APR) interview. One round of interviews is held every year, between mid September and November.

Research Students Guide

This guide is for all higher-degree-research students with the Faculty of Education and Social Work. It aims to provide students with useful information about services, resources and facilities available within the faculty, University and the internet. It also provides information on procedures and policies that are relevant to all postgraduate research students.

Thesis proposal review

All our research students need to attend a thesis proposal review meeting at some stage of their research. To arrange this meeting, research students to complete a thesis proposal review meeting request form (pdf, 104kB) and submit this to the faculty's manager of graduate studies.

The Thesis Proposal Meeting Guidelines (pdf, 224kB) is published for higher-degree-research students with the faculty, to provide useful information about how to prepare for, and what to expect of, a thesis proposal meeting. It also provides information about procedures and policies regarding upgrading from a MPhil to a PhD. Please read this guide in conjunction with the information provided in the Research Students Guide under ‘Major milestones in your research degree’.
