Education Honours - Roles and Expectations of Supervisors and Students
As an honours supervisor, you will agree to:
Support and guide each honours student through Education Honours Preliminary (EDUF4020), by: - reading through and providing feedback for the literature review and research proposal; - providing guidance and suggestions on relevant literature for the topic area (including appropriate research methodology).
Support and guide each honours student through Education Honours Dissertation (EDUF4021), by: - reading through and providing feedback on reports and/or journal articles; - providing guidance and suggestions on relevant literature on the topic area (including appropriate data analysis and structure of journals).
Establish positive ways of working with students - regular meetings, updates on progress, development towards ethics submission (both HREC and SERAP as required), and project management.
As an honours student, you will agree to:
Provide regular updates to your supervisor regarding progress, by: - speaking with your supervisor on a regular basis; - preparing an agenda of items to talk about when you meet with your supervisor.
Provide your supervisor with drafts of your report as you progress. When doing this, please remember to: - allow plenty of time (at least one week) for your supervisor to read your draft and provide feedback; - carefully read and consider the feedback your supervisor provides.
Take the initiative to find out what you need to do next. Although your supervisor will guide and support you, please do not wait for them to tell you.
Show the final draft of your report to your supervisor prior to submission.
