Fields of practice

A degree in social work is the typical tertiary qualification for work in Australia as a social worker, where, depending on the field of practice chosen, graduates may find employment as in management, education, research, policy development, politics and community planning.

Social workers are found in hospitals; women's refuges; city councils; employment, youth, disability and mental-health services; and justice, housing and welfare departments.
