Fields of practice – disability services

People with disabilities and their families sometimes require assistance from social workers to ensure they have access to the material, psychological and financial support necessary for to live full lives.

Having a disability can cause people to be overlooked in society and be unintentionally excluded from many activities because of physical barriers – some necessary, others avoidable.

Social workers advocate for people with disabilities to ensure they have appropriate access to support services, and to areas such as education, accommodation and employment.
