Master of Social Work (Qualifying) applications

Applications for the 2014 intake of the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) program will open from Friday, August 30, 2013. The closing date for first round applications is Friday, November 22, 2013. Applications submitted after this date will be considered in the second round of offers, which close on Friday, January 17, 2014. Before submitting an application, please read through the following important information, in order to fully understand the application process.

There is no Semester Two intake for this program.

How to apply

Step 1. Make sure you download the (a) 2014 Supplementary Form and (b) the 2014 Referee Reports from the University of Sydney Application Supplements website, before applications open on 31 August, 2013. Please send your referee report to your referees immediately, as they will need some time to complete this and send it back to us directly.

Step 2. Have the following documents scanned and ready for uploading as a PDF, JPEG or any standard media. No need to have these certified. You will need at least the following:

a) Driver’s License, or any photo ID
b) Passport, birth certificate or citizenship documents
c) Tertiary studies academic transcripts (not necessary for USyd alumni)
d) Employment records or any letter or statement from your employer/s that
    supports your employment history
e) Curriculum Vitae (CV) or personal resume

Step 3. Once you have completed the 2014 Supplementary Form and your personal statement, begin your application by going to the Sydney Student website.

Step 4. Complete the online form in Sydney Student and upload the documents. Please note that the system might recommend that you upload other items, but the five items above (plus your Supplementary Form) are considered enough.

If your referee gave you the referee report, you may upload that too.

Step 5. Wait for your application to be assessed.

What happens after I submit my application?

After you submit your application, and provided you have submitted all the required documentation (see Step 2 above), your application will be forwarded to the Faculty for assessment. You can see if your application is with the Faculty by checking the application status in the application portal.

First round offers will be sent by email in early December 2013. If you receive an offer by email, please ensure you login to the application portal to accept your offer.

If you do not receive an offer in the first round, you application will automatically be considered for second round. Second round offers will be sent by email in early February 2014.
