Tasks suitable for group work

Many tasks lend themselves well to group work. If the aim of the unit of study is linked to a substantial piece of work or the development of teamwork skills, group work assessment tasks are a good choice. Group work activities would be suitable if the task requires:

• complex problem solving
• extensive research
• lengthy deliberations
• higher order conceptual skills
• reinforcement of specific behaviours or skills
• leadership
• collaboration.
