Breaches of academic honesty can relate to group work in a number of ways and can occur for a number of reasons. Staff and students should be aware of the University of Sydney Academic Board Resolutions and Policies regarding academic honesty in coursework, and Plagiarism: student coursework – policy and procedures. Education and Social Work students should also be directed to The Sydney School of Education and Social Work assessment policy (the ‘little blue book’).

Breaches of academic honesty can relate to group work in a number of ways and may be relevant to the whole group or individual(s) within the group. They can occur for any number of reasons. Examples of academic honesty applicable to groups include:

  • plagiarism by all group members
  • plagiarism by one group member (without the knowledge of the others)
  • unauthorised sharing between groups by one group member
  • collusion between groups.
