Cross-curriculum perspectives: History and geography

  • TEACHING HERITAGE
Joint initiative between the Board of Studies, Department of Education and Training and the NSW Heritage Office provide a platform for a range of teacher resources including images and information. The website looks at a variety of aspects of teaching heritage focusing both on places and people with some interesting perspectives and examples of oral history and NSW places of importance. There are useful images and information regarding 24 sites of major significance in NSW mostly in the Sydney region including such places as Rose Seidler House, Susannah Place in the Rocks, Sydney Trades Hall and one of the last village temples in the world, the Yiu Ming Temple in Alexandria. Aspects of Aboriginal history are also addressed particularly in regards to the more recent historical past. This website provides accurate and relevant background and preparatory materials for teachers of HSIE students from stages 3 – 6. (retrieved Jan 25, 2011)
